The Life of the Secret Author

I'm a writer. I'm not published or anything, and maybe not even good. But I'm a writer. I love to create and make poems and little tunes. I love to paint and colour, and sketch. Although not very good. However, it doesn't mean I'm afraid of harsh critisism. Anyone who wants to diss my writing, you better back it up, and tell me what's wrong with it so I can fix it.

Like Twilight. I don't hate it because she's successful, and I don't hate it just because it's a teenage love story. It's becase vampires are a kind of demon, made from the sin of man. The home soil that Count Dracula needed, makes me think it's because the Count cannot leave the sin of the seemingly normal dirt. Vampires being beautiful? Sure, they can be. Vanity, which is a sin. Gluttony and Greed, because they gain power from blood. They burn in the sunlight, not sparkle. They burn because what right to they have to see the world in joyful light? They do not deserve warmth and are therefore cold. They cannot love, because love is something God gives us all.

More on Twilight, I'm glad they got a new director. It wasn't as airheaded. The effects are still at a low, but I'm sure that'll change when Bella has her baby... and better damn well be bloody. Vampires are not all sweet and kind and sparkley. Well, none should be. And the power? They gain that by killing. It's either a scientific defect, or my theory, demons of the Earth. I like the stories where they rule the Earth, or are abusive. I don't mind if they fall in love, or if they need mates or whatever! I just know they aren't normal, and to make Twilight vampires seen as vegetarians (and I know they have bottles of donated blood. That, still, is unacceptable) is like saying humans don't need to eat.

On to writing, it is very well written. Just like I try to do, it has nice vocabulary, and keeps you wanting more. Afterward it may be a good read or a 'oh no, my poor head', but either way, it's a best teen seller. Unfortuately, there will be less teenagers fearing vampires, and therefore more murders in the future [ : ) ]. Hey, it could be the next twenty-twelve. Although I hope it's a zombie attack.

I anxiously await the day I publish my work. because one day, I WILL! No matter what. The next one I finish, I will look for publishers and agents through my sister (who is suprisingly well informed). I love you, Jenna!

That's All 4 now!!::

Thomas, Leah and Every Insane Piece of Them

I have a part of a story I would like to share. Whose who are interested, please let me know and I will continue to update. Those who do not car, do not message me... no updates will be made : )

Prologue: (elsewhere) he sat on his bed and just stared off into space blankly. Then he slowly turned his head to his window, where moonlight streamed through. It shone off his pale soft skin, and made him look angel-like. But that’s not the way he felt. He was angry, and tonight his thoughts were quiet because he was angry. He walked to the window, and looked outside onto the street. It was him and he was with her. She was smiling sweetly, but politely. Thomas had a grim smile on his face. He debated on whether or not he should surprise them and walk outside, but before he could make his decision they had made it to the curb; it was too late. He kicked the wall once, out of anger, then turned to his bed and lay on it, staring up at the ceiling, barely noticing it was there. He was contemplating on what he was going to do next, and he didn’t want it to be pretty.

Chapter 1: I reluctantly opened my eyes. My alarm clocks radio was going off, tuned to my favorite station. I sighed and switched it off. Today I had a free day, which was great, considering it was Monday. I needed my alarm clock to wake me up so I could meet with some friends before they left for vacation. We were meeting at the square.

I don’t know why they called it a square. It was round. Couldn’t they have just called it circle?

Anyways we were meeting there, and I had to get ready. I showered and was out twenty minutes later. I dressed myself into some jeans and a black t-shirt with a white smiley face on it. I grabbed my small wallet and set it into my front right pocket. After I ate, and brushed my teeth, I shoved my shoes on and finally walked out of my parent’s house and locked the door behind me.

My name is Leah. I’m fifteen. I have cold green eyes that turn blue in the light, or else a strange pale green color. I had high cheekbones, and a nose that I thought was pointy, but it sure didn’t look that way if you looked at my face straight. I had side bangs that were short to my cheeks, and I could tug them behind my ear, but they liked to either hang in my face, or help frame it by hanging just in front of my ears. My hair was all the way past my shoulder blades, and naturally curly. My hourglass shaped body was nicely curved, but I had longer, strong legs for running.

I jogged to where we were meeting and finally made it, but I only saw one of my friends there. Kaitlyn. She saw me coming and smiled, but I saw in her ice blue eyes that something was wrong.

Beside her was a boy that looked about our age, but he looked bigger. He looked strong, despite his slim-figure. He had brown hair that hung in his face and a white and black striped hoodie. He was definitely not hard to miss. He looked up, when he noticed Kaitlyn’s attention directed at me. He then turned towards me and I saw his expressionless face turn into something else. He smirked, but something in his strangely black eyes twinkled in an eerie way.

I made my way to Kaitlyn and the boy, and as I came closer, I noticed something between them. They looked strangely alike. Kaitlyn’s dirty blonde hair seemed to have a cute, dull shimmer in her hair. I remembered when her hair used to be a light brown, but she highlighted it. I wonder...

“Hey, Leah.” Kaitlyn said. She darted her eyes from him to me. “Uh... This is my brother, Thomas. He’s here visiting our family. I’m very happy he’s here.” She smiled cautiously and glanced at him, but I saw in her eyes something else. She seemed afraid.

“Hey.” His deep, smooth voice said in greeting. He took out his hand from his pocket and held it out to me for me to shake. A corner of his mouth was turned up in a slight grin.

“Hi. Nice to meet you, Thomas.” I smiled softly, and shook his hand briefly for only a moment, his hand squeezing mine before he let go. I looked at him, and I knew only my eyes would look curious. His grin grew, meaning he could see it.

“I called you.” Kaitlyn said, “I said I had to cancel because I was spending the day with my brother. How come you didn’t answer? You obviously missed it, but you know what I mean.”

“I’m sorry I didn’t get it. It must have rung while I was in the shower. I’m sorry.” I apologized. She said it was okay.

“Well, sorry you had to come all this way.” Kaitlyn said with a sad smile.

“Yeah, it’s no problem. I’ll just go to the cafĂ© or something. It’s really fine.” I assured her with a casual grin.

“Well, be seeing you around.” Kaitlyn waved, but Thomas grabbed her wrist and looked from her to me.

“Can’t your friend come with us?” Thomas asked in his deep, alluring voice. He glanced from Kaitlyn, to me, and back to Kaitlyn.

“Um... Sure. If that’s what you want, Tom-Tom.” She smiled awkwardly at him, and then smiled at me, worried.

“What’s your name, again?” Thomas asked, smiling at me kindly.

“Leah.” I answered, smiling back. He nodded and then Kaitlyn finally got us moving.

It was awkward. Thomas just walked with us silently, and Kaitlyn had nothing really to say. I started most of the short conversations. It was hard, but interesting as well. I can find little bits of information on people this way.

“So, Thomas, what’s your favorite color?” I asked.

He looked at me and then spoke, almost amused, “Grayish-green. What about you?”

“Green.” I answered. I looked to Kaitlyn who was looking nervous. Why was she so scared, I wondered?

“What’s your favorite food?” Thomas asked. I turned my head to him and he was grinning. I smiled and then answered his question “Pizza.”

“Me too.” His lips formed a smile. His lips were not thin, but they weren’t full, either. They were in-between, which is just the right kind for him.

His nose was like Kaitlyn’s, which was slender and graceful. His cheeks had pink in them, and his skin was a soft, beautiful pale, just like his sister’s pale skin. He was pretty handsome.

“Cool! Kaitlyn, you like Pizza, too, right?” I asked, trying to include her in the conversation.

“Yeah.” She said, putting on a real smile this time. Thomas smiled at her, making her beam brighter. This made me smile as well.

“Hey, let’s stop in here!” Kaitlyn said pointing to an accessory store. It had stuff guys could have used, too, but Thomas didn’t seem as interested.

I found a necklace and saw the attachment on the end of it. It was a cage with a bird flying out of it, and a key in the bird’s beak. The bird looked like a dove. I smiled at it, and put it over my head. It was kind of too long for me. I saw the same necklace only with a smaller, more beautiful chain. The chain was a copper color and the attachment looked less shiny then the other one. Like dirty gold, but I liked it. It made it look romantically old.

I tried putting it around my neck but I was having difficulty. Kaitlyn saw me and laughed, but helped. I looked in the little mirror near the other necklaces and bracelets and saw it was almost perfect for me. But the dove and the cage looked strangely out of place. They were two different attachments, but the bird was on the other side of the cage.

“It’s on backwards isn’t it?” I asked with a sigh. Kaitlyn nodded.

“But it doesn’t matter, really.” She said.

Thomas had come up at that moment and looked at it resting on my chest an inch below my collarbone. Then he twisted it around and said simply, “The cage door is facing toward you. You should have it the other way.” Kaitlyn looked at him and smiled. Why was she so strange around her older brother?

I tried reaching for the back of the necklace, but Thomas stopped my fingers by gripping them and setting them at my sides, “Let me do it.” He said calmly. His voice was so calm and soft, yet it demanded attention. It would have been eerie, but I ignored it.

His fingers found where the hook was and undid it. His fingers brushed my neck, tickling it. He grinned behind me in the mirror and then said, “I feel like I’m dressing a Princess.”

“Who says you’re not?” I smiled and he smiled back.

“Well, then Princess, let’s set this on perfectly.” He chuckled deeply, making my heart quiver. But I ignored it and smiled.

Thomas set a soft and indistinct expression as he brought his arms and the necklace around in front of me, his arms farther away, as if to display it first. His chest was near my back, and for some reason, my heart was cold and twisting at his touch. “Look, Princess, isn’t it pretty?” He asked, chuckling at the end. I smiled and nodded.

He brought the necklace to my neck and set the now cold chain around my neck. I jumped and he laughed. Then he fastened the hook, and carefully brought all my hair out from under the chain. I smiled in the mirror, admiring it.

“It looks so pretty.” I admired. I looked at my face in the mirror. Maybe the necklace didn’t match like I thought. “But maybe it doesn’t match my face.” I said. Thomas looked a little shocked, but then he smiled. He smiles or grins a lot, but it’s always strange. Because of his mysterious, secretive black eyes.

“It’s fine, Leah.” Kaitlyn said, including herself, watching her brother and me carefully.

“I don’t know.” I sighed.

“It looks wonderful on you. It’s meant for you. Buy it.” Thomas said. I glanced up at him and he was looking at me expressionless, a hint of something that I could only think might be anger. I nodded and smiled. His eyes sparked when I smiled, as if he expected another reaction.

“Thanks. I will.” I looked at Kaitlyn who was smiling, as well. I checked to see the contents of my wallet. Okay, so the necklace is two dollars, right?” I asked.

“You must have been thinking about the other one. This one’s five fifty.” Kaitlyn said.

“Aw. That sucks.” I crinkled my nose and childishly stuck my tongue out. Thomas let out his deep, dark chuckle.

“Not enough money?” He asked. I looked up at him and he was grinning eerily again.

“No, I definitely have enough. It’s just that five fifty kind of sucks. I thought it’d be a little cheaper.” I sighed and rolled my eyes dramatically, but smiled.

Kaitlyn had just bought a neon blue hair extension, which she found very amusing. After she had purchased it, I set my necklace on the counter and then the boy at the counter scanned it and asked, “Did you want this in a bag?”

“No, thanks.” I looked to the person who had spoken. Thomas said that. What was he doing??

“Okay.” The boy said. He handed the necklace to me, but Thomas took it and then I saw him slap something down on the counter. As he removed his hand I saw five dollars and fifty cents. My eyes widened, and I saw Thomas smirking.

The boy took it and then smiled professionally, “Have a nice day.”

“We will.” Thomas waved. Kaitlyn looked just as shocked as I was.

“Thomas? What exactly are you up to?” I asked, walking beside him.

“Here.” He said, pointing to a bench. “I’ll put it on you.” Then he added with smugness, “Princess.”

“You’re going to say that a lot, now, aren’t you?” I rolled my eyes.

“Probably.” He shrugged. He fastened the hook up and then took my hair out from under the chain, once again.

“Why did you pay for it?” I asked. “I’ll pay you back, if you want.”

“No, it’s fine. This is officially a gift from me, so take care of it. You don’t have to pay me back.” He smiled genuinely.

“I just met you, and you’re the one giving gifts? I should pay you back.” I chuckled and he grinned.

“Don’t pay me back. I wanted to give this to you.” I nodded and he grinned, satisfied, and slightly smug. Normally, I would have protested, but the way he said ‘don’t pay me back,’ I let it slide.

I looked to Kaitlyn, who didn’t looked left out, but kind of nervous. She glanced around and something of relief flooded into her eyes when she saw something, but she still looked scared. Thomas saw Kaitlyn, and she forced a smile for him.

“Thomas, how old are you?” I asked. He answered promptly, as if expecting it, “sixteen.” He said simply.

“You mean you’re only a year older then Kaitlyn??” I asked incredulously.

“Yep.” They both answered and both chuckled at how they both spoke.

“I find this so weird. And Kaitlyn you never told me this! I’m very disappointed in you!” I said the last sentence sarcastically upset, using a deep voice, and I wagged my finger at her. She laughed and Thomas laughed, too. I was glad to see they were getting along, now.

Once we were comfortable we concluded that we were hungry, and left to go get some food. I was hyper by then, which means I’m not always in good behavior mode.

“Food! Food! Food!” I cheered, jumping up and down a little, like a child. Kaitlyn laughed, and Thomas chuckled in a soft way. It was weird. I just met him, and he seemed to really like me. Wow, I wonder what I did.

We all got milkshakes and Thomas bought a burger while Kaitlyn and I ordered hot dogs. Thomas, Kaitlyn and I all had a small, silly argumentover why chilidogs were worse then the original hotdog.

After finally agreeing that Kaitlyn and I had won and original was better, we all went shopping for clothes. Thomas found some clothes, and he looked really good, too. But I didn’t get why he had to wear stripes. Black and white stripes were his favorite, obviously. Was he supposed to be catching someone’s eye or something?

After finding stripes of black and white, he moved onto rainbow colours, but not much of them. He seemed to make a sort of face at them, like he wasn’t in the mood right then. However, he did buy a rainbow decorated hoodie.

When we finished shopping, Kaitlyn was trying to take Thomas home, but he wanted to walk me home. I was thankful, and flattered, but Kaitlyn looked pretty worried, and that concerned me.

Hope you enjoyed... Whoever reads this. Haha.
